Silent Bricks is the first storage system combining the advantages of inexpensive, movable data containers and the performance of disk libraries.
The Silent Brick Library scales extremely well in capacity and performance, thanks to its SAS loop topology. Its performance matches specialized disk libraries. Each hard disk within the system is individually addressable and can be switched off, thus limiting energy consumption to the storage areas currently needed.
The Controller manages the Silent Brick Library and features 5 slots for Silent Brick storage containers. Through addtional storage shelves with 14 slots each, capacity can be expanded. Connecting more controllers enhances performance through parallel access or enhances security through automatic failover.
The Silent Brick Library connects as VTL or via LTFS, through Fibre Channel or 10 GBit LAN with iSCSI support.
